Trip Overview
Follow Offa's Dyke through the beautiful Dee Valley on this marathon-distance trek. This northern section of the ancient border earthwork passes through some of the most dramatic scenery in North Wales — the Dee Valley, with its steep-sided gorge, riverside meadows, and hilltop fortress views. The walking is varied and rewarding, combining ancient pathways with riverside stretches and high ridgeline sections. The Dee Valley section is generally considered more dramatic than the Wye Valley section, with bigger climbs and more remote terrain.
Who is this for?
A challenging marathon with significant climbing. Hillier than the Wye Valley alternative. Good mountain walking fitness required.
